LESSON TIME IDEAS

Meeting in Secret - Try having a lesson time with the lights off and use just a flashlight or a candle for light. Remind the children that some Christians in other countries have to meet in secret to avoid having to go to jail. You can sing some songs quietly and you can teach your lesson with everyone sitting on the floor in a circle. Remind the children that not everyone enjoys religious freedom around the world.

Meet Outside - For a little change of pace, take the children outside (during the warmer months) and do your lesson time outside. Try to find a place on your church property that will be free from distractions.

Have a Real Missionary Speak to the Children - Learn when you will have one of your church's missionaries in town and see if they would be willing to come in and speak with the kids about their mission field. Seeing a real live missionary helps to get your kids excited about missions.

What I Want to be When I Grow Up - Have some leaders or people in your church come dressed in their work uniforms and talk to the kids about what they do for a living. Have them link it to missions by explaining that all of us are missionaries and have a missionfield around us no matter what job we choose to do in life.
