CLOSING TIME IDEAS

Leader's Staying AfterMany churches find it helpful to bring all the children into the same room for closing time. This can be helpful for two reasons. First of all, it allows the parents to pick all of their children up in the same place. Secondly it allows for you to create a list of "Leaders Staying After" each week. We all know that at times parents can ba a bit tardy picking their kids up. Having kids in a centralized location allows most of your leaders to get out on time 3 weeks out of the month and stay late one week of the month. How this list works is that you have one division responsible for one week out of the month. For instance, the 3-5 year old leaders stay behind week #1, the 1st-2nd grade leaders stay behind for week #2, the 3rd-4th grade leaders stay behind for week #3, and the 5th-6th grade leaders stay behind for week #4. In doing this sort of thing, leaders only have to stay late one time per month and are free to leave right after church if they wish the other 3 weeks of the month.

Closing Time GamesWhether you put the children in a central location or not, the question always comes up of what to do with the children between the time you are done and the time the parents actually come down and pick up their children. Some ideal topics to review each night would include questions from your word of the night and your lesson, questions about your missionary for the year, questions about the country that you have learned about thus far this year, and sword drills and questions about various lessons you have learned about thus far in the year. Below are some review game ideas along with some other simple game ideas that you can download and try to help pass the time if needed. There is also a list of Bible Trivia Questions that you can use to test the children's knowledge about Bible characters and events.
